The Villages Sailing Club We are an organization dedicated to the enjoyment of sailing. The club was formed in the fall of 2005 by Rich and Sally Mosher. From the original 10 charter members we have grown by leaps and bounds. Whether you are an experienced sailor or just a beginner, our club has something to offer you. Our members come from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of sailing experience and interests. We all, however, have one thing in common - we love being out on the water under a clear blue sky with a gentle breeze filling the sails.
We have an active social committee, so there is never a lack of fun and excitement. Events include meeting with sailing clubs outside The Villages, sailing in other area lakes, potlucks, cocktail parties, raft-ups, etc. There is always an emphasis on safety and a quest for new knowledge. We often have speakers who cover a wide range of topics including information on the local lakes, sailing clubs outside The Villages, safety issues, tips for buying or selling a boat, interesting destinations and much more.
We have members:
  • Interested in day or week-end charters who have compiled a list of local opportunities
  • Who are delighted to have found other "cruisers" and cherish the opportunity to swap tales of adventures about the high seas and far-away, exotic landfalls.
  • Who have sailed lakes all over the United States and those who have ventured into the ocean as coastal sailors.
  • Who are racers and relish the challenge of harnessing the wind and honing their skills to bring their boats across the finish line in victory.
  • Who have never sailed but dream of setting out on their own adventure one day. And we have members who are thrilled to help these individuals make the transition from land to water.
Come and join our group. Experience the wonder of being under sail and gain a new understanding of how the power of the wind can introduce you to a new and profoundly beautiful way to live your life.
